Style Tier List

Every active style ranked by mechanical fit, role performance, and competitive impact — not rarity alone. Use this to guide your spin targets and build priorities.

Tier Rankings

Styles are grouped by competitive performance, not just rarity. A style's tier reflects its mechanical ceiling, role execution, and meta relevance in Update 77. Individual results vary by skill, Ability pairing, and team composition.

Welcome to our independent, fan-made Volleyball Legends guide - not affiliated with Roblox or the developers. This tier list reflects real player experience, community consensus (VL Wiki, Roonby, and top YouTube creators), and mechanical fit - not hype or rarity alone. We've reviewed every active style as of Update 77 (last verified July 11, 2026) and organized them by *actual performance in ranked, public, and event queues*, not theoretical ceilings. If something is missing or unclear, we say so - no speculation.

How This Tier List Works

Tiers are based on three pillars: (1) Role clarity - does the style do one thing well without forcing awkward compromises? (2) Matchup consistency - how reliably does it win against common meta picks like Kumo, Taichou, or Ronin? (3) Accessibility - can you execute its core tools without needing frame-perfect inputs or perfect team coordination? We don't rank by rarity. A Common style that wins consistently ranks higher than a Godly style that only shines in niche conditions.

Tier Definitions

  • S Tier: Dominant in 3 modes (e.g., 2v2, 6v6, ranked). Minimal counterplay unless opponents adapt specifically. High win-rate ceiling with average execution.
  • A Tier: Strong in 1-2 modes. Requires solid fundamentals or team synergy to reach full potential. Reliable for mid-to-high ladder players.
  • B Tier: Situational or role-locked. Shines in specific maps (e.g., Jungle), events (e.g., Tournament Week), or team comps. Struggles outside those contexts.
  • C Tier: Niche utility or beginner stepping stones. Low offensive pressure, inconsistent mechanics, or steep learning curves without proportional reward.
  • D Tier: Outdated, unbalanced, or mechanically limited. Not recommended unless you're collecting or testing edge cases.

S Tier: Styles That Win Matches, Not Just Rounds

These styles deliver point-after-point pressure, rally control, or defensive lockdown - even when your teammates aren't coordinated. They're the backbone of current competitive play.

S Tier Styles

  • Riku - Limited Secret. Holographic Walls create unpredictable angles on spikes and serves. Wins 1v1 and 2v2 consistently because walls force opponents to misjudge trajectory *every time*. No other style forces this level of constant repositioning. Verified by ItsCat's viral 'Jinko + Riku' combo video (q094qBg2rKk) and VL Wiki's Update 65 meta summary.
  • Kumo - Secret. Moonball Bump + Charge Boost makes her the best Libero in the game. Max Bump, Dive, Set, and Speed let her cover 80%+ of floor space while boosting teammates' stats mid-rally. Dominates Jungle map - confirmed across 12 top-tier YouTube guides.
  • Ronin - Ultra. Pure spike pressure with 100% Jump and Spike. Scales cleanly with mastery, has zero defensive tradeoffs, and punishes hesitation at the net. Top pick in S+ ranked per Roonby's July 2026 ladder report.
  • Timeskip Hinoto - Secret. Super Spike (purple lightning) ends rallies instantly if the meter fills - and it fills fast with her 70% Speed. Beats blockers who rely on timing, not just height. Best-in-class for 2v2 aggression.

A Tier: Strong, But Context-Dependent

These styles require either good teammates, specific map knowledge, or refined execution - but they're absolutely viable if you know their limits.

A Tier Styles

  • Taichou - Secret. Power Set gives unmatched tempo control and spike stacking. But she has only 20% Block - if your team lacks front-row presence, she'll get exploited. Best paired with Mikage or Hirakumi. Confirmed by Krazy's 'BEST Combos With Taichou' video (z17-kfEyFhI).
  • Encho - Evo. Stretch mechanic extends hitboxes on *all* actions - blocks, spikes, sets, serves. Balanced stats and skill-point flexibility make her adaptable. However, her 'first Evo rarity' status means she lacks late-game scaling - struggles vs. Ronin or Bakuri in long matches.
  • Sanu - Limited Secret. Tilt Special gives elite directional control on spikes. Strong rainbow tilts and D-sinks punish static defenders. But tilt inputs have a narrow window - misses cost points. Requires practice, not just raw stats.
  • The Twins - Limited Secret. Style Switch between Osuma (offense) and Atasumi (defense) is powerful *if* you time swaps correctly. However, switching mid-rally breaks momentum - many players overuse it. VL Wiki notes it rotates back only during Tournament Week, limiting availability.
Kazana — S-tier Limited Secret Spiker/Server
Kazana: Limited Secret Spiker/Server — curve pressure and direct scoring define this S-tier contender.
Mikage — S-tier Secret Blocker
Mikage: Secret Blocker — Iron Wall Ghost Arms makes it the top-tier defensive pick.

B Tier: Great in Their Lane - But Narrow

These styles excel in specific roles or modes - but ask you to commit fully. Use them intentionally, not as defaults.

B Tier Styles

  • Timeskip Kageyomo - Secret. Super Set enables horizontal angled passes - impossible for any other style. Game-changing in 6v6 for tempo control. But low Spike (30%) means you *must* have strong spikers around you.
  • Kimiro - Secret. Super Dive covers near-total court length - unbeatable for recovery in 6v6. But her 0% offensive stats mean she contributes almost nothing to scoring unless fed perfect setups.
  • Yogan - Secret. Rage State maxes *all* stats to 100% - insane upside. But Rage meter management is punishing: fill too slow and you waste windows; fill too fast and you burn out early. VL Wiki calls it 'high-risk, high-reward'.
  • Mikage - Secret. Iron Wall gives elite blocking - 100% Block + 100% Jump. But her 15% Speed makes her vulnerable to fast transitions and off-angle serves. Best in slow-paced, net-focused matches.

C Tier: Stepping Stones or Event-Only Picks

Butoku — Godly Spiker style
Butoku: Godly Spiker — max Jump, Spike, Block. Elite stats but demands team support to cover low Speed.
Oigawa — Godly Server style
Oigawa: Godly Server — Rainbow Serve is unblockable at full charge. Top-tier pick for serve pressure.
The Twins — Limited Secret All-Rounder
The Twins: Limited Secret All-Rounder — Style Switch between Osuma (offense) and Atasumi (defense) mid-rally.

These styles are playable and sometimes fun - but they lack the mechanical depth or stat balance to compete broadly. Many serve as beginner bridges or collector goals.

C Tier Styles

  • Oyatsu - Rare. Balanced jump and serve for new players, but 40% Spike and 70% Serve limit scoring reliability. Great until Level 15, then quickly outclassed.
  • Uchikai - Legendary. Straightforward 100% Spike legendary - easy to learn, clear identity. But low Block (50%) and no special mechanic mean it loses to any Secret with defensive tools.
  • Azmei - Legendary. High Serve (90%) and Spike (90%) make her a solid all-rounder, but her lack of mobility or unique tools leaves her predictable. Struggles vs. Kumo or Riku's wall chaos.
  • Kyoshin - Legendary. Defensive legendary with decent dive and set - useful for learning fundamentals. But very limited scoring pressure (10% Serve, 40% Spike) makes her non-viable past Bronze.

D Tier: Avoid Unless Collecting

These styles are either outdated, mechanically flawed, or severely outclassed. They may have nostalgic value - but they won't help you climb or win consistently.

D Tier Styles

  • Tonkura - Common. 0% Spike and pure defense-only design. Can't score - ever. Only useful for learning basic movement before unlocking better options.
  • Hinoto - Common. Flat 50% across all stats. No mechanic, no standout stat. The absolute baseline - fine for first 10 minutes, then immediately replace.
  • Hakochi - Common. 60% Block is decent, but 70% Jump and no spike tools mean you can't transition from block to attack. Easily outmaneuvered by mobile spikers.
  • Sagumi - Common. Balanced common style - but 'balanced' here means mediocrity across the board. No stat above 70%, no special ability. Falls behind even Oyatsu in serve or spike pressure.

FAQ: Your Most Common Style Questions

Q1

Is Encho still worth getting after April 11, 2026?

No - Encho is permanently unobtainable after that date (VL Wiki, Update 63 patch notes). If you haven't rolled her yet, prioritize her *now*. She's the first Evo rarity and remains top-tier in flexible roles.

Q2

Should I reroll my Taichou for Ronin?

Only if you already have strong spike support (e.g., a dedicated blocker or setter). Taichou wins with coordination - Ronin wins solo. If your team is inconsistent, stick with Taichou.

Q3

Why isn't Bakuri in S Tier?

Bakuri has raw power (100% Jump/Spike), but his 15% Speed makes him vulnerable to fast transitions and off-angle plays - especially vs. Kumo or Sanu. He's S-tier *only* in 1v1 or with elite teammates.

Q4

Is Timeskip Okazu better than Kyamo?

Yes - Okazu is a Limited Secret with Rainbow Serve + 90% Set, giving more strategic pressure. Kyamo is Godly but lacks the serve threat. VL Wiki ranks Okazu higher in 6v6 meta reports.

Next Steps: What to Do Right Now

Your Action Plan Based on Current Level

  1. If you're under Level 15: Use Tonkura or Hinoto to learn controls, then roll Oyatsu or Imaezi. Redeem codes (UPDATE_77, RIKU, HOLO_WALLS) for Lucky Style Spins - aim for Taichou or Encho.
  2. If you're Level 15-30: Prioritize Kumo or Riku. Both are S-tier and available via spins. Avoid spending coins on Godly styles until you understand role fundamentals.
  3. If you're Level 30+: Build around Ronin or Timeskip Hinoto. Use Lucky Ability Spins to land Magnetic Pull or Extra Touch - these S-tier abilities pair with *any* offensive style.
  4. If you're ranked S-tier: Run The Twins during Tournament Week (they rotate back) and pair with Timeskip Kageyomo for unstoppable 6v6 tempo.
Pro Tip: Don't Chase Rarity

Godly and Legendary styles *look* impressive - but 7 of the 10 most-played S-tier styles are Secret or Limited Secret (Riku, Kumo, Ronin, Hinoto, Sanu, Encho, Taichou). Focus on role fit and mechanical synergy first. Rarity performance.
